Crochet Popcorn Flower Square
How to crochet a beautiful popcorn stitch motif! In this video I show you step by step how to crochet the popcorn flower square AND how to join as you go (JAYG technique) for connecting your crochet squares together.

Abbreviations:
MR = Magic Ring
SS = slip stitch
Ch = Chain
SP = Space
SC = Single Crochet
HDC = Half Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
SPECIAL STITCHES
Beg Pop = Beginning Popcorn ( chain ch3, 4dc into same stitch, remove hook, place into ch3, draw through, ch 1 to secure)
Popcorn = (5dc into same stitch, remove hook, place into 1st dc, draw through, ch1)

4mm Crochet Hook
With flower colour:
into MR, 8sc, join with ss to 1st sc
beg pop into same stitch as join, ch1. *pop, ch1* around. ss to join to 1st ch1 sp. (8 popcorns, 8 ch1 spaces)
beg pop, ch1, pop into same ch1 sp, ch1. *pop, ch1, pop* into each ch1 sp. ss to join to 1st ch1 sp. Ch1, cut yarn (16 popcorns, 16 ch1 spaces)
Join Square colour to any ch1 sp from round 3. Ch3 (counts as 1st dc) dc into same sp. Ch1.
*2hdc in next ch1 sp, ch1
2sc in next ch1 sp, ch1
2hdc in next ch1 sp, ch1
2dc, ch2, 2dc in next ch1 sp (corner formed) ch1* repeat 3 times
on last side: 2hdc, ch1, 2sc, ch1, 2hdc, ch1 and end with 2dc into same ch sp as start of round, ch2. ss to top of initial ch3. ss in next dc and ss into ch1 sp.
ROUND 5 for FIRST square: for all subsequent squares, omit ch1 and replace with ss for join as you go on the sides and *ch1, ss, ch1* for joining corners. For more details please see video.
