Crochet Rainbow Hexagon Motif Blanket [Free Video Tutorial & Written Pattern!]

Crochet Rainbow Hexagon Motif Blanket [Free Video Tutorial & Written Pattern!]

Pin for later

In the run up to Christmas, I am always panic crocheting. I have stock to make for craft fairs, gifts to get made in time, it's chaos.

Once Christmas is over, there is a weird lull where I don’t quite know what to do with myself.  I mooch about, I organise my yarn and start 101 things that are never destined to be finished.

Whilst sorting my yarn, I came across a few balls of James Brett Party Time that I bought a long time ago and never really used. I had tried a couple of things with it in the past but didn’t really like how it crocheted up, the colour changes are short, the dyes bleed randomly into each other, not to mention how garishly bright it is… but it is squishy and soft.

So I sat in my β€œmeh” moochy mood and grabbed a hook. I messed about with some motifs but settled on this simple hexagon.  Suddenly I loved how the short bright colour changed looked and I was away! The cluster style hexis are so quick to make up that before I knew it, I had enough for a blanket.

I made all the coloured centres first, then arranged them in a vague ombre way on the floor before starting the joining.

It got a fair bit of attention online (probably due to the garish colours screaming at people from their social media feeds lol) and lots of people asked me for the details and pattern so they too could make an eye bleedingly bright blanket of their own. So, without further ado, here is all the details you need for making your very own rainbow hexagon blanket!

This crochet hexagon is super quick and simple to make.
