HEXAGON MOTIF WRITTEN PATTERN
USA STITCH TERMS
Hook Size(s): according to your yarn
Abbreviations:
· Ch = Chain
· Inc = Increase
· DC = Double crochet
· Rep = Repeat
· St = Stitch
· Ch sp = Chain space
Stacked Double Crochet: Insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop so that there are two loops on the hook, yarn over and pull through to complete a single crochet stitch. Put your hook in the stitch you just created, yarn over, pull up a loop so that there are two loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through to complete the stitch.
Pattern for JAYG Hexagon:
Make a magic circle.
Round 1: Ch 2 and make 12 DC in the ring. Pull the tail to close the ring and sl st to join. (12)
Round 2: Make 1 Stacked DC and 1 DC in the same st. Rep *(1 DC, ch 2, 1 DC), 2DC inc* five times. Make (1 DC, ch 2, 1 DC) in the last st of the round. Sl st to join.
Fasten off and cut the yarn. Weave in the ends.
Join As You Go Directions:
Start the second hexagon and work the first round.
Round 2 (Second Hexagon): Make 1 Stacked DC and 1 DC in the same st. For the first corner, make 1 DC, ch 1, and sl st into the corner of the First Hexagon.
Make 1 DC in the Second Hexagon to complete the corner, 2DC inc, 1 DC, and sl st into the next corner of the First Hexagon. Ch 1 and finish this round as normal.
Fasten off and cut the yarn. Weave in the ends.
Start the third hexagon and work the first round.
Round 2 (Third Hexagon): Make 1 Stacked DC and 1 DC in the same st. For the first corner, make 1 DC, ch 1, and sl st into the top corner of the Second Hexagon.
Make 1 DC in the Third Hexagon to complete the corner, 2DC inc, 1 DC, and sl st into the first corner where the First and Second Hexagon are joined. Then sl st into the second corner of the join. Make 1 DC in the Third Hexagon to complete the corner, 2DC inc, 1 DC, and sl st into the next corner of the First Hexagon. Ch 1 and finish this round as normal.
You will continue attaching hexagons like this until you reach the last one, which will need to be attached at 4 points instead of 3.
Start the last hexagon and work the first round.
Round 2 (Last Hexagon): Make 1 Stacked DC and 1 DC in the same st. For the first corner, make 1 DC, ch 1, and sl st into the free corner of the adjacent hexagon. Make 1 DC in the Last Hexagon to complete the corner, 2DC inc, 1 DC, and sl st into the first corner where the adjacent hexagons are joined. Then sl st into the second corner of the join. Make 1 DC in the Last Hexagon to complete the corner, 2DC inc, 1 DC, and sl st into the first corner where the adjacent hexagons are joined. Then sl st into the second corner of the join. Make 1 DC in the Last Hexagon to complete the corner, 2DC inc, 1 DC, and sl st into the free corner of the adjacent hexagon. Ch 1 and finish this round as normal.
Fasten off and cut the yarn.
Weave in the ends.
