Crochet Shell Stitch Scarf

Foundation Row: Ch multiples of 8 plus 4 (this will be the width of the scarf).

For my scarf I chained 28.

Row 1: Starting in the fourth ch from the hook, make (3 DC, ch 2, 4 DC) in the same ch to form the first shell.

Rep *skip 3 ch, 1 SC, skip 3 ch, 1 shell* across.

You will end the row on a shell. Ch 1 and rotate to work into the other side of the foundation row. In the center of each shell across, make 1 shell.

At the end, sl st to join in the first ch.

Row 2: Turn and make 4 sl st until you reach the ch sp of the first shell.

Make 1 Stacked Double Crochet, 3 DC, ch 2, 4 DC in the ch sp for the first shell.

In the ch sp of each shell across, make 1 shell.

You will NOT rotate the scarf to work on the other end. The rest of the rows are worked back and forth in short rows.

Row 3: Turn and make 4 sl st until you reach the ch sp of the first shell.

Make 1 Stacked Double Crochet, 3 DC, ch 2, 4 DC in the ch sp for the first shell.

In the ch sp of each shell across, make 1 shell.

Rows 4-onward: Rep row 3 for as long as you want your scarf to be.

When youโ€™ve reached your desired length, fasten off and cut the yarn. Weave in your ends and enjoy!
