Crochet Log Cabin Granny Square Blanket WRITTEN PATTERN

USA STITCH TERMS

Hook Size(s): according to your yarn

For my Blanket I used 4mm Crochet Hook and I used:

3 x Balls of Cream Yarn (Hayfield Bonus) and 1 ball of the following colours: Hayfield Bonus "Neon", Scheepjes Colour Crafter "Hengelo", Scheepjes Colour Crafter "Tilburg", Scheepjes Colour Crafter "Knokke", Scheepjes Colour Crafter "Malmédy", Scheepjes Colour Crafter "Eindhoven" & Scheepjes Colour Crafter "Leeuwarden"

My colour order for my rows: I used cream in-between 2 blocks of colours. (for example - CREAM, purple, pink, CREAM, pinky red, blue, CREAM, green, yellow, CREAM, orange, purple, CREAM etc )

Size is approximately 39 inches (99cm) square.

I made 27 Blocks of Colour ( 4 Rows Per Colour Block) for a total of 108 Rows.

You are free to use any yarn, any hook size and any colour combinations you fancy!

Abbreviations:

  • Ch = Chain

  • DC = Double crochet

  • Rep = Repeat

  • St = Stitch

  • Ch sp = Chain space

  • Sl St = Slip Stitch


Pattern for Crochet Log Cabin Granny Square Blanket:

Foundation Ring: Ch 5. Join with a Sl St in first Ch to form a ring.

Row 1: Ch 3, 2 DC into Ring. Ch 2, work 3 DC into Ring.

Row 2: Ch 3, turn. 3 DC in the Ch 2 sp. Ch 2, 3 DC into same Ch 2 sp. DC in the top of the Ch 3 from last row.

Rows 3: Ch 3, turn. 2 DC in first sp between clusters. (3 DC, Ch 2, 3DC) all into Ch 2 sp. 3 DC in last Ch sp between clusters.

Row 4: Ch 3, turn. 3 DC in first sp between clusters (3 DC, Ch 2, 3DC) all into Ch 2 sp. 3 DC in last sp between clusters. DC in the top of the Ch 3 from last row.

Change Colours here and every 4 Rows throughout.

Row 5: Ch 3, turn. 2 DC into first sp. 3 DC in sp between clusters. (3 DC, Ch 2, 3DC) all into Ch 2 sp. 3 DC in next sp between clusters. 3 DC in last sp.

Row 6: Ch 3, turn. 3 DC in first sp between clusters. 3 DC in next sp between clusters. (3 DC, Ch 2, 3DC) all into Ch 2 sp. 3 DC in next sp between clusters. 3 DC in last sp between clusters. DC in the top of the Ch 3 from last row.

Row 7: Ch 3, turn. 2 DC into first sp. Repeat * 3 DC in sp between clusters * twice. (3 DC, Ch 2, 3DC) all into Ch 2 sp. Repeat * 3 DC in next sp between clusters * twice. 3 DC in last sp.

Row 8: Ch 3, turn. 3 DC in first sp between clusters. Repeat * 3 DC in next sp between clusters. * twice. (3 DC, Ch 2, 3DC) all into Ch 2 sp. Repeat * 3 DC in next sp between clusters. * 3 times. DC in the top of the Ch 3 from last row.

Row 9: Ch 3, rotate work 90 degrees clockwise. 2 DC around last dc made in last row. Repeat * Sk a row, 3 DC around st in next sp. * until you reach Ch 2 sp. (3 DC, Ch 2, 3DC) all into the beginning foundation ring/ Ch 2 sp. Repeat * Sk a row, 3 DC around st in next sp. * until end of row. 3 DC into last sp.

Row 10: Ch 3, turn. 3 DC in first sp between clusters. Repeat * 3 DC in next sp between clusters. * until you reach Ch 2 sp. (3 DC, Ch 2, 3DC) all into Ch 2 sp. Repeat * 3 DC in next sp between clusters. * until end of clusters. DC in the top of the Ch 3 from last row.

Row 11: Ch 3, turn. 2 DC into first sp. Repeat * 3 DC in sp between clusters * until you reach Ch 2 sp. (3 DC, Ch 2, 3DC) all into Ch 2 sp. Repeat * 3 DC in next sp between clusters * until end of clusters. 3 DC in last sp.

Row 12: Ch 3, turn. 3 DC in first sp between clusters. Repeat * 3 DC in next sp between clusters. * until you reach Ch 2 sp. (3 DC, Ch 2, 3DC) all into Ch 2 sp. Repeat * 3 DC in next sp between clusters. * until end of clusters. DC in the top of the Ch 3 from last row.

Keep repeating Rows 9-12 until you reach the size you desire!
