Crochet Granny Spike Stitch Written Pattern

Crochet Granny Spike Stitch WRITTEN PATTERN

USA Stitch Terms

Hook Size(s): according to your yarn

Abbreviations:

Ch = Chain

SC = Single crochet

DC = Double crochet

DC Spike = Double crochet spike

Ch sp = Chain space

Rep = Repeat

YO = Yarn over

St = Stitch

SPECIAL STITCHES

Double Crochet Spike Stitch: YO, insert hook in ch sp two rows down, YO, and complete the DC as normal.

Foundation Row: Ch multiples of 4 until you get the desired width plus 1 for turning.

Row 1: Starting in the fifth ch from the hook, make 3 DC and rep *3 DC, ch 1, skip 3 st, 3 DC* across. When there are 4 st left, ch 1, skip 3 st, and make 2 DC in the last ch.

Row 2: Ch 2 and turn. In each ch sp across, make *1 DC, 1 DC spike into the center st of the row below, 1 DC, ch 1*. To finish the row, make 2 DC in the beginning ch 2 sp of the previous row.

Row 3: Ch 2 and turn. In each ch sp across, make *1 DC, 1 DC spike into the center st of the row below, 1 DC, ch 1*. To finish the row, make 2 DC in the beginning ch 2 sp of the previous row.

Rows 4-onward: Rep row 3 for as long as you’d like your project to be.

FINAL ROW OF YOUR PROJECT: instead of doing double crochets either side of the spike, do SINGLE crochet, double crochet spike stitch, SINGLE crochet
