Crochet Feather Stitch Written Pattern

Learn how to crochet the incredibly soft textured Feather Stitch - this stitch is an easy peasy one row repeat which is looks far more complicated than it is - the crochet Feathered Stitch is reversible and fantastic for squishy scarves or blankets!

In this video I also show you how to finish the pattern so the bottom edge matches the top.

USA STITCH TERMS

Hook Size(s): 6mm (or any size according to your yarn)

Abbreviations:

• Ch = Chain

• HDC = Half double crochet

• FHDC = Foundation half double crochet

• Rep = Repeat

• Ch sp = Chain space

• St = Stitch

Special Stitch(es):

Feather Stitch: yarn over, insert hook in the chain space, yarn over, pull up, three loops on the hook, yarn over, insert hook in the stitch/chain space two rows down, yarn over, pull up, five loops on the hook, yarn over, insert hook in the next chain space, yarn over, pull up, seven loops on the hook, yarn over and pull through all seven loops. Chain one and start the next feather stitch in the same chain space.

Written Pattern:

Pattern Multiple: 2 + 1

Row 1: Ch 2 and make as many FHDC as you need (multiple of 2 plus 1).

Row 2: Ch 1 (this does not count as a st) and turn. Rep *1 HDC, ch 1, skip 1 st* across. The row should end with 1 HDC in the last st.

Row 3: Ch 1 and turn. 1 HDC, ch 1 in the same st. Make feather st all across. The row should end with 1 HDC in the last st.

Rows 4-onward: Rep row 3.

Last Row: Ch 1 and turn. Make 1 HDC in each st and ch sp across. There should be 1 HDC in each ch sp and 1 HDC on top of every feather st.

Fasten off and cut the yarn.
