For my blanket I used 2 and a half Cinnamon Swirl Cakes in the colourway "Tropical Breeze" with a 6mm Hook
For the border I used 2 balls of Paintbox Chunky in White with a 7mm Hook.
My blanket measures approximately 90cm x 106cm (35" by 41")
I took the width to 91 rows, then maintained the mid section for 39 rows before decreasing.
If you want to make a larger blanket, you will of course need more yarn.
You can use any yarn you so wish, PLEASE NOTE - you will need a hook size at least one size larger than the yarn recommends and a hook two sizes larger for the border.

Make sure the opposite sides have the same number of stitches. Sl st to join at the end of the row.
Row 2: Ch 1 and make (1 SC, ch 2, 1 SC) in the corner.
Rep *ch 1, 1 SC*, working in the ch 1 sp around. For the corners, make (1 SC, ch 2, 1 SC). Sl st to join at the end of the row.
Row 3-onward: Rep row 2 for as wide as you want the border to be.
Last Row: Ch 1 and make (1 SC, ch 1, 1 SC) in the corner.
